Overview

The Aquatics Program Coordinator supports all aspects of aquatics department programming and events at our Olathe Family YMCA in Johnson County. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves swimming and aquatics, thrives in a team environment, and is ready to help create safe, engaging aquatics programs for our members. This role is a great next step for experienced lifeguards looking to grow into a leadership position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, managing, and implementing aquatics programs and activities, including swim lessons and departmental events
  • Support marketing efforts and special events for the department
  • Assist in managing daily departmental operations
  • Participate in interviewing, scheduling, supervising, and disciplining qualified staff
  • Maintain accurate records of program participants
  • Attend and assist in staff meetings
  • Report any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries to appropriate staff immediately
  • Be a collaborative team player across all departments

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in this or a related field.
  • Will need to achieve certifications within 30-days of hire, if not already certified, in the following:
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard or YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor
    • First Aid.
    • CPRPro (includes AED).
    • Emergency Oxygen.
  • Perform and pass rescue skills.
  • Able to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner.
