Overview

Are you passionate about helping older adults stay active, connected, and engaged? Join the YMCA of Greater Kansas City at our Platte County Community Center North in Parkville, MO as a Program Coordinator – Active Older Adults (AOA).

 

In this role, you’ll plan, develop and implement programs, while building relationships, and creating a welcoming environment where members feel supported, valued, and inspired to live healthier lives.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Coordinate AOA programs including social events, potlucks, and local field trips
  • Assist in designing and improving programs to meet the needs of the Parkville community

Member Experience & Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with members to enhance satisfaction and retention
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants of all abilities
  • Respond to member needs and concerns with professionalism and care

Program Operations & Support

  • Maintain accurate program records, participation tracking, and evaluations
  • Assist with scheduling and daily program operations
  • Ensure programs meet YMCA safety standards and risk management practices

Community & Event Coordination

  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to grow participation
  • Direct responsibility for Parkville while helping promote Riverside and Platte City programs
  • Engage in community outreach to increase awareness of YMCA Active Older Adult programs throughout Platte County
  • Assist with special events and center-wide activities
  • Develop volunteers and help lead community-building initiatives

Team & Leadership Support

  • Assist in supporting staff and volunteers through onboarding, scheduling, and guidance
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture
  • Assist with annual campaigns and center initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in this or a related field.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
