Overview

We are looking for a Youth & Family Program Coordinator to support programs that create a welcoming, safe, and engaging experience for children and families. This role plays a key part in supporting youth programs, special events, and family engagement opportunities at the Bonner Springs Family YMCA in Bonner Springs, KS.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Delivery

  • Plan, coordinate, and support youth and family programs including Kids Zone and Kids Night Out
  • Organize and manage program registrations and maintain accurate participant records
  • Coordinate facility usage for program activities and events
  • Monitor program participation and evaluate effectiveness to support continuous improvement
  • Lead YMCA special events and family engagement activities

Family & Community Engagement

  • Participate in marketing and recruitment efforts to grow program participation
  • Assist in expanding programs within the community in alignment with YMCA strategic priorities
  • Respond to member and community questions, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and community events

Staffing & Leadership Support

  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding associates and volunteers
  • Help supervise staff and support day-to-day program operations
  • Develop staff schedules within established guidelines
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing team communication

Operations & Administration

  • Assist in managing day-to-day departmental operations
  • Maintain organized program supplies, schedules, and documentation
  • Ensure high-quality program delivery and participant experience

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure programs operate safely and follow YMCA policies and procedures
  • Report unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately to a supervisor

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in this or a related field.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
