Overview

Under the supervision and direction of the director, the Program Assistant is responsible and accountable for assisting with the Youth and Family department programs and membership retention. The Program Assistant must emphasize customer service, the mission statement and work with program retention and promotion.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, developing or implementing departmental programs and activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of risk management policies and procedures, including Emergency Action Plans.
  • Monitor the building or off-site location, ensuring we have the proper ratios. Examples include, as in the pool (lifeguard to swimmers) or in the child watch (associates to youth).
  • Assist with supervising events and YMCA program associates in a responsible and professional manner.
  • Walk through facility to make sure participants are safe and programs are operating smoothly. Notify appropriate associates of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accident, or injuries immediately.
  • Immediately inform supervisor of any problems or incidents/accidents that may arise in schedules, coaches, teams, facility conditions, players, associate relations, etc.
  • Fill out all accident and incident reports completely and turn into the Executive Director.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of programs and special events, may include set up and clean up.
  • General filing and other administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience in the department of focus.
  • Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED within 30 days of hire.
