Overview

Assists in the day-to-day responsibilities at a before and after school age site in the Shawnee Mission School District in accordance with licensing and YMCA standards.  With a focus on safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement, Y Club before and after school gives kindergartners through sixth graders a safe, supportive and fun environment to learn, develop interests and make friends.  Must become a qualified director in the State of Kansas through child care licensing.

Sign-On Bonus: $500*

 

Hourly Rates

Minimum $15.00/hour

increases to rates are case-by-case based on experience and education relevant to to the field of youth development

Responsibilities

  • Prepares weekly/monthly activity plans for an assigned program according to established educational and environmental standards set by state licensing and the YMCA and direct supervisor.
  • Collects and helps site supervisor in maintaining accurate family accounts.

  • Be prompt and dependable to work scheduled hours.

  • Assists in monitoring hours and adjustment forms of staff under his/her supervision in a timely manner.

  • Manages staff-to-child ratios within licensing standards and according to YMCA policies for site coverage.

  • Communicates supply and equipment requests accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Insures that the program is operated in a safe and purposeful manner, insuring that all licensing and YMCA guidelines are met or exceeded.

  • Assists in maintaining accurate attendance, financial, and sign-in/sign-out records and follow up on absent children.

  • Assists in maintaining all aspects of paperwork required at the site, required by licensing and the YMCA.
  • Adheres to YMCA policies and site specific system for supervision.
  • Communicates important program issues and information to supervisor(s), as well as site staff.

  • Performs duties of Site Supervisor during Site Supervisor’s absence, if called upon.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Associates degree, either in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or Psychology or sufficient college coursework/credits or six-months to one-year experience to meet state licensing requirements for Director Approval at the appropriate level for site size.
  • Have the qualifications for a qualified director in the State of Kansas, holding a license for the capacity of the program.
  • Requires an understanding and application of principles of quality school-age development and programming.
  • Public relations and leadership skills in working with program parents, principal and staff in school, state licensing representatives and site staff.
  • Sensitivity to clientele and staff representing a variety of family, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Active involvement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Commitment and desire to provide quality child care services at all levels.
  • Knowledge of state licensing standards and commitment to adhere to said standards.
