    Positions open for 2018-2019 School Year 

     

    Looking for fun work with youth after school? Join our After School Y Club Family Monday-Friday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm (start times vary based on district) as a Youth Development Assistant! Convenient hours for any high school student. The Youth Development Assistant is key in leading our youth in a variety of engaging activities that reflect and uphold our four core values of  Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and promotes education, healthy living, safety, creativity, anti-bullying, and inclusion among all youth.

    Our Y Club team members are enthusiastic about their work because they are positively impacting children every day. They also enjoy:

    Responsibilities

    • Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect.

    • Help children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth
    • Work in a team environment and provide open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers
    • Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
    • Encourage parents to participate or volunteer in special events or on field trips
    • Express appreciation for families’ interest in their child(s) participation in the program

    Some positions may have additional responsibilities such as:

    • Insure that the program is operated in a safe and purposeful manner, insuring that all licensing and YMCA guidelines are met or exceeded.
    • Implement group activity plan as assigned and according to state licensing and YMCA guidelines.
    • Communicate on a daily basis to families regarding the behavior of their children positive and negative (make sure to have parents review and sign corrective behavior reports).

    Qualifications

    • Minimum age of 16.
    • Understanding of and ability to apply principles of quality youth development and programming.
    • Sensitivity to clientele and staff representing a variety of family, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
    • Active engagement with and supervision of children requiring physical stamina, alertness and emotional stability.
    • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
