  • Overview

    Under the supervision and direction of the Youth and Family Coordinator and in accordance with the mission, character development and values of the Y, the Youth and Family Program Assistant will plan 

    Kids Night Outs, Tween Night Outs, Healthy Kids Day, Trunk or Treat, Block Party's, and offer support in the administration of the Youth and Family program area.  

    Responsibilities

    • Must support the mission of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City and promote the character development values Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
    • Maintain knowledge of risk management policies and procedures, including Emergency Action Plans.
    • Monitor the building or off-site location, ensuring we have the proper ratios.  Examples include, as in the pool (lifeguard to swimmers) or in the child watch (associates to youth).
    • Walk through facility to make sure participants are safe and programs are operating smoothly.  Notify appropriate associates of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accident, or injuries immediately.
    • Immediately inform supervisor of any problems or incidents/accidents that may arise in schedules, coaches, teams, facility conditions, players, associate relations, etc.
    • Fill out all accident and incident reports completely and turn into the Executive Director.
    • Planning and implementation of programs and special events, may include set up and clean up.
    • General filing and other administrative duties in planning, developing or implementing departmental programs and activities.

    Qualifications

    • Must be 18 years of age.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum one year experience in the department of focus.
    • Must be able to provide exemplary customer service 
    • American Safety and Health Institute certifications:Current First Aid.
    • Current CPRPro (includes AED).
    • May work evenings and weekends as needed
