Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Kansas City (YVCKC) hosted by the YMCA of Greater Kansas City is a part of a national network of programs that offer 11-18 year olds the opportunity to improve their community through volunteering. We mobilize diverse groups of youth volunteers from across the community into teams to complete meaningful service-learning projects at a variety of worthy nonprofit agencies in the greater Kansas City area. 


The Youth Volunteer Corps Program Coordinator works closely with our Program Director and Assistant Program Director to plan and implement summer service learning camps and school year service learning.  The position leads service projects, has administrative responsibilities, and plans special fundraising events.   


  • Collaborate with other associates, youth, schools and agencies to plan service-learning projects in accordance with YVC Program Standards.
  • Lead weekly service-learning projects for groups of youth
  • Ensure a safe, educational, fun and rewarding Youth Volunteer experience.
  • Plan and coordinate year-round fundraising events for YVC program
  • Plan YVC school year programming including creation of programs and service learning
  • Recruit youth to participate in YVC programming year-round
  • Work in partnership with other YVC team members to identify and collaborate with agencies to offer YVC programming
  • Ride the Summer of Service bus with youth some mornings and afternoons during summer programming
  • Attend all required training and regular meetings
  • Data entry, phone calls, and other office managerial responsibilities
  • Help plan end of the summer celebration event


  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience working with youth, preferably age 11 to 18
  • Committed to the empowerment of youth
  • Available week days and some weekends
  • Reliable transportation around the Greater Kansas City Metro
  • Experience with volunteer service, preferably with service learning.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
  • Must be willing to get dirty and work outside
  • Must have a passion for helping youth succeed
