The Business Director-Membership Support is directly responsible for support of all member account activity and reviews and performs business functions across multiple centers to ensure the policies and procedures of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City are being followed. 


  • This position will contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
  • Provides Quality Control checks of all new Membership Sales for centers.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable activities for Membership including letters to members, phone calls, write offs, tracking AR collection, journals, cancellation of delinquent membership accounts and distribution of monthly department AR statements to appropriate director.
  • May make independent decisions to negotiate payment plans for members with A/R balances.
  • Provides support for centers associates regarding membership account processes for holds, changes in demographic or financial information, cancellations, and refunds.
  • Runs reports for expiring credit cards and contacts members through phone calls and letters.
  • Distributes Renewal Letters to members and provides follow-up documentation for expiring Fixed Term Memberships.
  • Sends letters and processes changes for members reaching appropriate age for new rate.
  • Acquires ACTIVE Net trainer certification.
  • Responsible for entry of Program Information Files.
  • Provides ACTIVE Net training for Welcome Center and Director Associates.
  • Provides high level ACTIVE Net training for key associates.
  • Works in conjunction with the Member Engagement Director to identify need for additional systems training for Welcome Center Associates.
  • Reconciles daily cash reports.
  • Completes audits of petty cash accounts and business functions.
  • Enters campaign pledges and payments into donor database.
  • Provides journal entry adjustments.
  • May provide assistance or coverage for other Business Directors in the absence of a Business Director.
  • Attends center team meetings as needed.
  • May travel to different centers within the association.
  • Attends customer service trainings.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years business experience.
  • Must be able to relate and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with business software.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects.
