Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Receptionist will perform all duties as required for the smooth operation of the office and other duties relating to the support function of the program.
Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
Must answer phone lines according to YMCA phone procedures and direct calls and people on site to appropriate associates in a friendly and courteous manner or take messages as needed.
Welcome onsite visitors, determine nature of business and announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
Provides callers with information such as center address, directions to the center, appropriate program information and other related information.
Assist with center tours as needed.
Assist administration with filing of staff and children files while maintaining confidentiality.
Assist with associate scheduling, monitoring child/staff ratio.
Assist with day to day activities of the center, i.e. cleaning up snack, covering breaks.
Provide limited assistance in classrooms as needed.
Supports other office associates in preparation, reproduction, distribution and recording of agendas, minutes, reports and other information.
Provides logistics and materials preparation support for meetings, training, and other events
Assist with developing the monthly parent calendar and parent newsletter
High school degree or equivalent.
One year administrative or clerical experience.
Three credit hours or more in Early Childhood Education strongly preferred.
Ability to make independent and sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
Detail orientated with good organizational skills, and be multi-task proficient.
Strong computer skills.
Able to work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
Sensitivity to individuals representing a variety of family, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
