Overview

Under the direction of the Sports Director the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the direction, implementation and evaluation of specifically assigned sports program projects.  In this position the Sports Program Assistant will ensure that all programs to which they are assigned are properly supplied and run in accordance with the Mission and Core Values of the YMCA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assists Sports Director with field preparation and maintenance.
  • Assists Sports Director with league formation activities and program marketing.
  • Distributes information to coaches and parents.
  • Assists in data entry of program registrations in sports database.
  • Monitors practice sites and officials during games.
  • Assists in inventory of uniforms, trophies, equipment, etc.
  • Assists in recruitment and communication with coaches.
  • Serves as official or umpire as needed.
  • Must notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum one year experience in this or a related field.
  • Must be able to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner.
  • Must be able to reflect a positive attitude.
  • Must conduct themselves and duties as a respectable and responsible executive.
  • Able to work with diverse groups of people in an inclusive and effective manner.
  • Must maintain current motor vehicle license and acceptable driving record that meets YMCA standards.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule with availability to work evenings and Saturdays.
